Last year, after the tragic events of September
11, railroaders from across the country responded positively to
our suggestion to establish a charitable fund in lieu of Christmas
gift baskets.

With our readers' input, we established a charitable fund that matched,
dollar-for-dollar, all contributions to charities made by our friends,
clients, and interested parties. We established a goal and it resulted in
total pledges of $50,000 in contributions to a wide range of charities.
You can find out more about the last year's successful Charity Matching
Fund by clicking here.
Given the tremendous response from last year's effort, this holiday
season we are again launching the Charity Matching Fund. This year's
effort again will have no administrative or fundraising costs – 100% of
any money donated will go to the designated charities.
The way the matching fund works is simple. If you choose to
participate, mail us a check made out to the charity of your choice –
together with the charity's name, address and tax exemption number. We
then will match the amount of your donation and forward both checks to the
charitable organization. The only restrictions are the following:
- Our total donation to any single charity will not exceed $1,250;
- The charity must be an established charitable organization with
tax-exempt status;
- Your check must include the organization's tax-exempt ID number;
and,
- All checks must be submitted by the individual requesting the
matching donation.
As always, you can contact us anytime with questions or concerns at
1-888-425-1212 or 312-939-1212, or send an email to info@felahfd.com.
Of course, you can call me personally or send me an email at hoey@felahfd.com
with any questions that you may have about our Charity Matching Fund
program.
Because of the economic downturn and slow recovery, many charities report
that fewer people are making contributions this year. Moreover, the
continuing effects from the economic downturn have increased the demands
placed upon the organizations that are served by your donations. So now,
more than ever, the Charity Matching Fund program will provide much needed
support to many important organizations.
