We'd
like to introduce you to two of our investigators, Charles E. Gebhardt and
Michael J. Kinney. Both of these gentlemen have long histories as
railroaders. We are proud to have them on staff to serve you and your
family.
Charlie began
his railroad career with the Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad in 1948 while
still attending high school. In 1949 he signed a
contract to play professional baseball with the Cincinnati Reds. During
the baseball off season Charlie returned to work for the IHB. He was called for
active duty in the U.S. Army in January, 1950. He was
decorated for his heroism during the Korean War. After the war, Charlie
returned to work in operating and traffic departments of the rail
industry. He graduated from the College of Advanced Traffic in Chicago in
1964, studied at the Northwestern University School of Transportation and
became a certified member of the American Association of Traffic &
Transportation. Charlie retired from the IHB in 1993 with 45 years of
experience, and joined our firm as an investigator. If you have any
questions you would like to ask Charlie, please contact him at cowtrain@webtv.net
or (815) 544-5387.
Mike
began his railroad career in 1953 as a switchman / brakeman for the former
Chicago and North Western Railway. He was promoted to conductor in 1963
and that same year was elected Local Chairman of BRT Local 375. Mike has
held union offices since 1963, including the positions of Local Chairman,
Legislative Representative and Delegate to both UTU National Conventions
and UTUIA. He is familiar with railroad operations, benefits, disciplinary
hearings, grievance handling and arbitrations. Mike, as Local Chairman of
UTU Local 528, was part of the team that computerized claims and grievance
handling. He earned certificates from Roosevelt University and the
University of Wisconsin in railroad labor, negotiations and arbitrations.
Mike retired from the Union Pacific Railroad in 1999, and joined our firm
as an investigator. If you have any questions you would like to ask Mike,
please contact him at mkinn6884@aol.com
or (815) 544-5332.
