Family Members Seminar
1) Discussing, now, as a family, what the railroad worker wants done regarding medical care and other matters in the event of a serious accident that leaves the railroad worker unable to make reasoned decisions.
2) Knowing your rights in choosing treating doctors and medical facilities.
3) Knowing your rights and the necessity of restricting access of railroad personnel and railroad representatives to the injured railroad worker; and how to go about doing this.
4) Knowing the roll of the railroad claim agent, risk manager or safety officer in the injured railroad worker's care and the investigation of the facts surrounding the injury or death.
5) Protecting your rights to your claim against the railroad.
6) Contacting a local, lodge or division officer of the railroader's union for immediate help and advice.
7) Contacting a union designated lawyer for immediate legal advice.
8) Example situations where immediate retention of a designated lawyer is necessary to protect the railroad worker's rights and those of the family.
9) Why it may be necessary to immediately file a lawsuit.
10) Importance of realizing that family members need not, and should not deal with the tragedy alone.
