On May 2, 2011, Justyna Palka (26), a pedestrian crossing Columbus Drive near the NBC Tower in Chicago's Streeterville neighborhood, was struck and killed by a private tour bus making a right turn. Passerby and EMT’s performed CPR on Ms. Palka prior to her being taken in critical condition to Northwestern Memorial Hospital. Witnesses believed Ms. Palka had the right-of-way while crossing the street. Chicago Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating the tour bus accident.
On May 4, 2011, Chicago Police Department charged the tour bus driver, David Soto, with one count of aggravated DUI.
