George T. Brugess graduated from DePaul law school in 1981. In 1985, George was appointed General Attorney for the Chicago & North Western Railroad in Chicago. At the CNW, George litigated catastrophic cases for the railroad, including the Fox River Grove school bus accident case. After the Union Pacific Railroad acquired the CNW, George continued as General Attorney for the UPRR in Chicago.
Wanting a change from the corporate culture and the defense side of personal injury cases, in 1996, George joined the litigation team at Hoey & Farina.
George has tried jury cases to verdict in Wyoming, Wisconsin, Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Iowa and Illinois State and Federal Courts.
George’s jury verdicts include $33 million for a switchman who suffered double leg amputation; $3.9 million for multiple injuries in a van accident; $1.5 million for a back injury caused by excess locomotive vibration and $1.25 million for a partial thumb amputation. In addition, he has secured many million dollar settlements for injured individuals and their families.
George has previously served as President of the Board of Education for Morton High School District, overseeing a budget in excess of $25million. He also is active in Operation Lifesaver, is an avid golfer and enjoys spending time with his family.
